We woke up to find a winter wonderland outside! We had no idea it was supposed to snow! I guess we were way to into and excited about THE SAINTS WINNING THE SUPER BOWL!!!!
It was perfect snow to play in. Our neighbors already had snowmen built when we got out there. Caleb loves the snow but has a hard time getting around being all bundled up and in his boots.
He didn't really like making the snow angel too much!
The day before was so nice Caleb was playing outside and we forgot his fire truck!!
He loved raking the snow off the bench. He was playing and then all of a sudden let out a big scream to let me know he was DONE!! Then came in and took a nice long nap!
Where has the time gone? This month I think I have to officially say Caleb is not a baby anymore. I think we moved from baby to toddler a long time ago but I can't deny it anymore!
Here's some new things he's been doing since turning one:
- Climbed out of crib
- Climbs on top of pretty much everything and hams it up for attention.
- he tries to say: DaDa, MaMa, Tiger, Gracie, Juice, No No, Uh Oh, Doggy, I love you, trash and a whole lot of really fast jiberish
- Jumping, He may not actually get off the ground but he tries
- Dancing, He pushes the barn on the fridge and starts dancing or the trains of his Thomas book and then he looks around to make sure someone else is watching and dancing with him
- Loves playing chase, with Tiger and Gracie or Momma or anyone who will chase him. If i had the energy he'd do it all day long!! He just cracks up and squeals!
- LOVES reading!! He climbs into my lap with a book at least 20 times a day, clapping his little hands together asking for more and we have to read the book at least 2 times each time. His favorites are Raindrop Plop, Where the Wild Things Are, Over in the Meadow, and his new favorite is his autograph book from Disney with his pictures in it. The problem is there are no words so the reader gets to make them up.
- He plays with more of a purpose now with his toys: building, stacking. When it gets quite, I go looking to see what he's into, a lot of times he's on the floor reading his books. Don't get me wrong the other times its quite he is into something he's not supposed to be into!!
- Drinking milk and then letting it run down his chin all over himself!
- Pointing at things. Its funny when he points and then signs more. At least I don't have to say more what?
- Opens pantry and gets snacks out and brings them to me asking for "more"
- Throwing his diapers away in the trash. Even though a lot of times he runs to the trash with his diaper yelling "trash" and once getting to the trash can tries to make a break for it and run off with the diaper. But he always claps for himself after he throws it away.
- Getting behind me and pushing my legs to go where he wants me to go, usually his playroom or the kitchen to eat
- Blowing kisses
- Playing Peekaboo Barn on my phone
- Hamming it up and being silly!! And making everyone around laugh!
Caleb stood by the window watching the snow come down, just dying to get out in it. I wasn't sure how he'd react to it but he LOVED it! A bunch of kids in the neighborhood were running around playing and he just thought he was as big as they were. I'm sure next year he'll really be going crazy in it. We didn't get to build a snowman before it all turned to ice, next time. Caleb went "swimming" in the puddle of water and soaked his gloves, so Daddy sacrificed and gave him his gloves. This reminded me of A Christmas Story. He kept trying to pick up a stick and would get stuck. Then he'd let out a Caleb scream to get help getting back up!
The other day I laid Caleb down for nap like a typical afternoon. I'm listening to him fuss trying to go to sleep and all of a sudden I hear pitter patter of little feet running down the hallway! And up pops Caleb's sweet little face in the doorway! After blaming Tyler, I quickly realized he had climbed out of his bed without even making a sound. No Thud, no crying, no nothing!!
Then the next day, Caleb's playing in his playroom and I hear his little chairs clanking together. Tyler looks to see what he's doing and this is what we found!! So now its progressed onto pretty much everything he can get on top of!
Friday was our last Little gym class for the Fall so we had a "show". It was pretty much a normal class for our little ones with medals at the end.
See the little boy in his mom's arms. Well he wasn't too happy because he got a little visit from the Caleb monster a little bit earlier! He was playing on the obstacle course and Caleb came running up to play with him. The little boy didn't want anything to do with Caleb. He wanted Caleb to get down so what does Caleb do? Gives him a great big smile and then a great big Caleb ROAR/ squeal/ scream/ whatever you want to call it! He didn't think it was too funny and just burst into tears!! So what does Caleb do to cheer him up? Well what anyone would do. Give him a great big smile and a great big Caleb ROAR!!! Didn't quite work! The kid was screaming and never really calmed down the rest of the class! Whoops, Caleb was just being friendly!
A quick tumble and mom catches a great picture while he's on the ground! Look at those eyes!
Have we not called him our little monkey from day 1!!!
This is the infamous obstacle course later in class. Libby doesn't mind playing on it with Caleb. She has been the recipient of many of Caleb's squeals and hugs! Great big hugs that would bring them both to the floor! We're sad she's moving up to the older class. We'll miss her!
Here's a couple of his little gym tricks! He pretty much let Ms. Melissa do all the work this time!
These are just a couple cute pics I got while playing later that afternoon.
My next project is to start getting some Disney pictures up. But I'll have to do a bunch of different posts.
My dad sent me these pictures that were on the internet from the bowl game he called. I thought they were neat to see. Any time his games are on TV we watch the whole game staring at the sidelines looking for him. Most of the time I couldn't tell you what happened in the game or even who was playing. So it was cool to see these pictures of something other than his back. He made some big calls and had some big plays right in front of him on this game!
I LOVE this one!! :)
I just had to repost this one from when he was in Memphis calling a game.
Over Christmas we were able to get together with a couple of our friends and let the little ones "play" together. At this age they are mostly playing side by side and not really paying attention to each other. But occasionally they acknowledge each other.
Caleb and Bennett are two days apart. They "played" a lot before we moved to Memphis and were Gymboree buddies for a little while. I wish I caught it on film when Caleb was chasing Bennett down the hallway. It was so cute! Bennett was crawling away and Caleb went running after him. Bennett would turn around to see if he was coming, smile really big and take off again. Caleb was smiling and laughing chasing after him. Bennett was also showing Caleb all the fun things he can get into in the laundry room. I knew then they'd grow up to be big buddies!! :) Double Trouble!!!Lily had her first birthday party here in Memphis while they were in town for Christmas. She is about 6 weeks younger than Caleb. Christina and I used to laugh and joke when we were in college about growing up and having our kids play together. We even said we'd have a girl and a boy that would grow up to get married! Well we're on the right path! :) But the part about us living on the same street in a cove, cul-de-sac, so they could run around and play together isn't quite happening! In fact they are just moving further away!!I tried to get a picture of Caleb trying to give Lily hugs. He's such a boy and just a little rough. He just goes in for the kill and they both would topple over. Lily wasn't too sure about it!
